Love Where You Live
I have been fortunate enough to travel around New Zealand and Australia for the last 5 months. The landscapes, scenery and tourists spots these countries offer are absolutely amazing!
Since being back in the UK - people have been asking me 'why come back?'. In the first few weeks my replies consisted of things like 'I ran out of money' or 'I'll be off again soon', but now, when get asked the same question, I answer honestly.
This is Home.
And to be honest - even though Oz and NZ were absolutely amazing (if you are thinking of going just go! You won't regret it) The UK is what I call Home.
Specifically The New Forest is my Home. I love it here. Ok - in England we get a lot of rain, it's cold, and we are always stuck in traffic. But we have History. We have Culture. We have something a lot of other Countries don't and we are far too quick to put our country down. Don't get my wrong - before I went away I couldn't wait to leave 'this miserable country', but within a few weeks of leaving, I was already missing England! I missed silly things like our wildlife and nature - our historic and charismatic buildings and even our ever changing weather and temperatures (being so hot that you start sweating as soon as you get out the shower wears thin very quick).

The other day I was lucky enough to travel down to Lulworth Cove, which is on the Jurassic World Heritage site in Dorset, southern England. As you can see from the photos - it's incredible! Living proof of just how amazing nature can be. It almost therapeutic being here - its calms the mind, and has become one of mine and my girlfriend's special place.
Lulworth Cove has made me realise just how little I have seen of my own country. I hate to admit that I have never been to Scotland - I have never been to the Lake District - I've never been to Ireland, never been to the Channel Islands. There is so much of the United Kingdom I have yet to explore and I can't wait to see it all!
So I guess the moral of this story is - love where you live. There is so much to do and see in your own country. Yes - it has it's bad points, but it also has so many good things to offer! Us Brits are great at moaning - we're professionals - however we need to learn to love our country. Our ancestors have fought hard to make our country 'Great' - and it really is 'Great Britain'.
